Haitian-Internaitonal artist BélO join forces with DJ/producer Emmanuel Fils Jacques A.K.A ManitoNation on a new track “Majori”.
 
“A mutual friend sent me a beat from ManitoNation, and I was feeling it. From there the project took off”, says BélO. “The beat is slightly different from my style of music composition, yet I have never shied away from experimenting with current ideas. I added my touch to the track and, obviously, the lyrics”.  Majori’s beat is an influence of Pop mix with Afro beats, Haitian Roots and BélO’s authentic sound, “Ragganga”.
 
The musicians who played on this track are an entirely young crew - Marc Kenny Luberisse (Guitar), Hernso Chery (Tambour), Peterson Altimo (Bass), Gaetan Désiré A. Collaud (mix and mastering) - who contribute to the song’s contagious rhythm.
 
The new single, “Majori,” is a shout-out to all the guys who struggle and get mocked while trying to court an unreachable queen. The lyrics are in Haitian Kreyol, yet there is a faint hint of Spanish lingo driving the chorus. A dance music video will follow suit. With visual background that evokes memories of Haiti from the 80’s, the video is an age-old concept of boy-meets-girl-boy-cannot-get-girl.

  « Un ami commun m'a envoyé un beat de ManitoNation, et je l’ai apprecié de suite. À partir de là, le projet a décollé », raconte BélO. "Le rythme est légèrement différent de mon style de composition musicale, mais je n'ai jamais hésité à expérimenter de nouvelles idées. J'ai ajouté ma touche au morceau et, évidemment, les paroles aussi". Le rythme de Majori traduit une influence, un mélange pop avec les rythmes afro, les racines haïtiennes et le son authentique de BélO, "Ragganga".
 
 Les musiciens qui ont joué sur ce morceau sont une toute jeune équipe mais tout aussi douée - Marc Kenny Luberisse (Guitare), Hernso Chery (Tambour), Peterson Altimo (Basse) et Gaetan Désiré A. Collaud (mix et mastering) ont contribué au rythme contagieux de la chanson.
 
 Le nouveau single, "Majori", est un hommage à tous les gars qui courtisent une reine inaccessible et dont les techniques de drague échouent lamentablement; et bien sur ils doivent essuyer les moqueries de leurs pairs. Les paroles sont en créole haïtien, avec un léger soupçon de jargon espagnol qui anime le refrain. Nashville, TN, September 9, 2020 – The winners of the US-based Unsigned Only Music Competition were announced today. The overall 2020 Grand Prize is awarded to the Haitian world music artist Jean Belony Murat, known as BélO. He is also the winner of Fandemonium, Unsigned Only’s online public vote. 
 
Established in 2012, Unsigned Only has become known as the leading music competition honoring international artists who are not signed to a major record label. It has become an important source for discovering new talent and acts as a benchmark for excellence in the arena of contemporary music. Selected from more than 7,000 entries from 109 countries, the winners share in over $160,000 in cash and prizes split among 38 winners.
 
Winners were selected by a judging panel comprised of high-profile industry experts and renowned recording artists, including: Charli XCX; Aimee Mann; Sanctus Real; O.A.R.; Ruthie Foster; Robert Smith (The Cure); David Benoit; Tyler Williams (The Head And The Heart); NLE Choppa; Bibi Marin (Reik); Darryl Worley; Piso 21; Janiva Magness; Tinariwen; Rhett Walker; The Devil Makes Three; Buika; and many more (see complete list below).

BélO’s sound is a mixture of world, rock, reggae, jazz, and Afro-Haitian traditional rhythms known as “ragganga.” Born in Croix-des-Bouquets, near Port-au-Prince, BélO was only 11 years old when he realized he wanted to be a professional musician. For him, it was seemingly his destiny because music was everywhere: in his home, on the streets, and all over Haiti. His first album was released in 2005, and since then he hasperformed all over the world, garnering accolades and multiple awards, including winning the prestigious "Prix Radio France International Discoveries” award. 
 
“BélO’s message is so relevant right now; it speaks to the turbulent and challenging times in which we all live,” said Founders/Directors Candace Avery and Jim Morgan. “His message of unity and peace resonates now more than ever.”
